Getting outside can change a child’s perception of their world give them access to inner strength that they didn’t know that they had. That’s why I do the work that I do and that’s why we are planning an event at Indian Lake County Park on October 30 from 1-4 pm. Event sponsors include Dane County Parks, the Ice Age Trail Alliance, the Department of Natural Resources and Outdoors 123. We also have assistance from the Friends of Indian Lake County Park. Thanks for all involved in making this event happen.
We have 30 kids registered so far from community centers in Dane County and Just Dane’s mentorship program and we are excited to serve them. We will take a hike, enjoy nature activities and cook s’mores over an open fire. We’re hoping for a warmish day with lots of fun.
So what can you do to help? We can still used volunteers to help with the s’mores making and other activities and we can use donations. We’d also like to purchase 10 pairs of binoculars for the kids to use. Each pair costs about $30. Donate to paypal by using this link or by clicking the donate button on the home page of this website. If you are interested in volunteering, please email me at getkidsoutside@gmail.com.
Thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing you at the park.
